4430 Clutch Repair

I ve got the clutch out and waiting on a reman. I wondering if I should replace any pto or clutch piston bearings while I m in there?

I don t see a problem with either, and just wondering what you guys would do? I also don t know how big a can of worms I would open trying to do the pto piston bearings. Looks like the plate would come off to get to two speed, and the pto piston could be removed from it.

The thrust bearings run in lube oil and are usually fine. If they feel /look good they are most
likely fine. Might consider replacing the traction clutch piston packings. To replace the PTO piston
actuator packing seals the actuator plate assembly will have to be remove to gain access to PTO
piston return spring retainers. Which also requires you to remove clutch control valve assembly to
remove oil tubes to actuator. Not hard just some time to do it. DW
