I installed a A4754 pump on my D. Evidently the shift collar is wore as it will not engage. Is it rebuildable? Are parts available?

The shift collar, A4762R. is still available for some $160.

The ''dog clutch'' is spring-engaged and disengaged by a ''yoke''.

The engine must be stopped when engaging it or damage will occur.

You will have to take it apart and have a look at what may be damaged, IMHO.

Taking a quick look, I didn't find the ''live pump'' in the ''D'' on-line parts lookup, below is a link to it on the ''G'' catalog.

Back in 2013??? Pete from MD had shared as per below here on Yesterdays ractors

Brent,
Yes,it is a JD factory live hydraulic pump. A few parts are still available. There's a page in the A,B,&G parts catalogs that shows the pump. The working pressure is about 600 psi and you can use a modern cylinder with it depending on how much weight you want to lift.

The seal on the mag end is p/n AH21815 @$14.50.
This a double lip seal. The seal on the governor end is AA5613R @$8.40. This is a single lip seal and you'll need 2 of them since the original was a double lip seal.

Before you put any $ in parts, take the pump off and open it up. The most common problem with these pumps not working is the pump clutch collar. The notches in the collar are worn and the collar will not stay engaged with the pump drive shaft. The two cogs on the drive shaft get worn too. The problem is caused by engaging the pump when the engine is running. The collar (p/n A4762R) is still available from Deere @ $150. The drive shaft (p/n AA5612R) is no longer available.

DSB,

The info in the old YT post that John Deere D posted is still my recommendation. I looked on jdparts.com and found the clutch collar, A4762R, still available for $148.80 through my dealer. It's aluminum and some very talented person maybe able to build up and recut the two notches. The same may be true for the two cogs on the steel shaft, AA5612R, which is no longer available from Deere.

If you can resolve the above issues you'll also need to replace the seals on both ends of the pump shaft. The one on the small end of the shaft is a 1/2'' double lip seal , AA5613R. If my memory is any good, when I ordered this p/n Deere send me two 1/4'' wide seals. When you install the seals in the pump cover the garter springs should face AWAY from each other. Commercial substitutes are National 480567 or NAPA 8648.

The seal on the large end of the pump shaft, AA5616R, is also a double lip 1/2'' wide if my memory is any good. Commercial substitutes are National 7472258, CR13569, and NAPA 13569. If the seal on the large end has cut a groove in the shaft you can fix it with a Speedy-Sleeve #99138.

There are 3 pages in SM-2011 that cover disassembly, inspection, and repair of this pump. If I knew how to scan these pages I would add them to this post. I'll be glad to mail them to you if you email me your regular mail address. My email is open in Classic view.

I hope this helps. Good luck.
Pete

I have the SM-2011. Thanks for the offer. I did cut a couple of small pieces of key stock and placed them in the grooves between the shafts. I tapered them slightly so the collar slipped over them a bit to hold in place. It is working so far as permanently engaged. I figured I didn't have much to lose....!

Thanks again!
