2 cylinder ROPS

I said Id ask....anybody have or seen anything that looked
useable and safe on an old John Deere. Distant relative
tipped a tractor last summer and so its been a coffee table
topic of late. Ive heard the axles would snap in a rollover
anyway but that does kind of surprise me if thats where a lot
of implements were mounted

I'm NOT suggesting this was a designed ROP....

However, it's an interesting design...

PICs off internet...

I could be wrong on this, but I have a large collection of old literature, furrow magazines, etc. I studied it a lot as a kid. In there, I think from some sort of parts flier from say about 1970, was a ROPS listed for something like a 730, etc. It showed no pictures. I have never seen one, either. Then again in that day there was little interest in ROPS in my neighborhood.

If it was indeed offered, I bet very few if any were sold.

I believe that is Geoff's(sp) tractor from the UK. There are many posts on this site about it.

That 730 looks just like the 4020 with the same fenders. Appears he has that South American foot pedal clutch too thats quite the rig. Looking more letter series row crop

I know of a narrow front 430 with a roll guard and canopy off a Deere utility tractor. Makes a very sharp looking outfit. Someday I want a narrow front 1010 and would like to do the same thing. Dad adapted some roll guard and canopy's to some Allis D14-D15's. Was more concerned about being in the shade when making hay than roll over protection. There was a sale near me a few years ago where the owner put a 4020 roll guard and canopy on a 720. I only saw some pics. Tom

Thanks for the reply.

The July/August 1990 Two Cylinder magazine has a list of all 91 AI's built including serial #, date
built and destination. About 25 were rebuilt as another AI, rebuilt as an AR, or scrapped.

If you don't have the info on your AI I'll be glad to send it to you. My email is open in Classic
view.

the rear axles on two cylinders aren't strong enough to take the full rated load. Also, ROPS is only good if you have a seat belt on to keep you in the zone. I would say leave it off or upgrade to a new gen with a proper ROPS.
