Ice storm took down a lot of power lines NW Illinois. Piece that clamps on hydraulic pump broke just past the shaft on 4320, so had to use 1953 JD G.

Bet the fuel consumption took a big increase.
Reminds me of a few years ago we had a 7-10 day power outage. The area ran out of portable generators in a matter of days. I was fortunate enough to find one about 40 miles away. I had seen that a cousin was running one of those PTO generators with his 4430 JD tractor. He said it was going thru $70 worth of fuel in a 24 hour period.

PTO quit working. It is hydraulically engaged. If unloading silage into a bagger with the clutch pushed in, eventually the PTO will stop because the front reservoir is starved for oil. If I am incorrect I have a bigger problem than I think. Experts?

you are correct in that you need hydraulic pressure to engage the PTO. Replacing the broken drive coupling part should solve your problem.

Slightly, but the only time it is rock solid was when I milked and the vacuum pump and cooler were running (medium load)and using 4320 or 4440.

Its probably going to burn about half the amount of a cheaper fuel. Its a much smaller tractor. It would probably make it through the night if its full at 10pm. I know I tried the B on one once and it just didnt have enough power even for led lights and pellet stove. G would work good though its about 3 times more powerful. The LEDs didnt flicker like the old bulbs they dont take much juice and smooth themselves out internally it just couldnt handle when the heater fan kicked on sounded like it was plowing.

I shut it off at 9:00 PM and we bundled up. Started up in morning and good neighbor brought back my 4440 an hour later and put that on till 4:00 PM when power was back on. G does like it's gas.

It sure is nice to have a generator when you need it. I tried to run our 10k genny on the 620 I had a couple of times. It would make the lights flicker in the house. The last time I tried it,we had a major field repair that had to be welded. The surging was bad enough that anytime when I struck an arc with the welder,it would stick. It sure made the tractor talk ! Sure hope everything returns to a normalcy quickly for you.
