John Deere 4020 Flywheel Specs.

Good day!

Perhaps my eyes deceive me but I couldn't find any machining specs. for the flywheel in SM2039.

Looking for the flywheel minimum thickness and step dimension for an early MY 4020D. Flywheel P/N R28810R.

TIA

I have been getting new ones lately,,it cost $100 to have one turned,, and $400 will buy a new one,,most have been turned a few times at least..a couple things happen when they are turned to far,,1 is the cover bottoms out on the fly wheel rim and won't let the clutch adjust correctly,,2 the radias inside the fly wheel holds the pressure plate from fully pressing on the plate.

hello,, i have the flywheel specs sheet here,, maximum depth from top surface to clutch contact surface is,, 2.909 .. nominal conditions,, the setting is 2.849 also make sure the step on
the top outer edge is held to .400 so the clutch cover will fit down onto the flywheel.. soo any where between the 2 above specs. should work.

Yes, you are correct with the specs,,and they are for the depth of the face to edge,,but,, what happens is as you move these dima ensions down from grinding it lets the pressure plate hit the inner radios of the flywheel,, holding it away from the clutch plate,,and the rim of the flywheel shrinks to not let the cover set correctly

Not to mention that the clutch cover will bottom against the shoulders of the three ''dowels'' extending from the flywheel once enough flywheel face material as been ground away.

Thanks to all for the info.!

This one has a fair bit wear & has already seen a few clutch jobs that I know about so I think I'll look for a replacement.
