Does anyone have any good pictures of the release mechanism and slider assembly for the adjustable seat on a 1950-53 JD AR? My lever appears to have 2 bends in it and it does not move the pin far enough to allow the seat to slide. I can make it work by adding some washers as spacers, but I don't think that's the right solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Due you have the low seat version or the high seat version,
Most are the low seat version and seat is same as on a A or
B tractor. The high seat version I think was only made in
1953 and I have not seen one close enough to know what the
seat looks like, Now the low seat was first built in 1950
to I think 1952 and I had a 1950 for years but it got sold
in the 1980's So I do not remember how it is made . If you
go to John Deere's parts look up site it should show you
just how every thing works. I do have serial number list
for years and it does tell when they went from low to high
seat. Not sure if high seat is slightly offset like the low
seat version is.

pinski, I have a 1953 AR and I took a pic but I have some stuff stacked on the seat so the pics are not too detailed. I also looked at my other tractors and the seat release mechanism is pretty much the same on the 49 A or a 70D. Main difference I see is the lever that actually move the pin is bent in a sharper angle. Can get better pics tomorrow if you need them, just will take some climbing and re-stacking some boxes.
The spring and lever are the exact same as the late styled A according to the parts manual.

Thanks Dan, that a perfect picture. Here is a picture of mine. It appears I have an extra bend in mine that prevents it from moving as far as it should. I'll get it in the vice and get rid of that second bend. Thanks
