John deere h brake linings replacements

Getting ready to rework the brakes on my H. Is there a good video showing this procedure? Im not afraid of tearing into it just thought a video might save me a little time and effort and skinned knuckles!! I didnt find one for the h on YouTube just basic A,B,50, etc. the h is somewhat different I can see. Thanks for your help. I have all the manuals just easier with pictures!!
 
The only difficult part I found was getting the adjustment shaft betweeen the shoes after you replace the pads. If you have a good spring puller it would probably be easier to install the shaft between the shoes and then hook up the spring. I used a pry bar. Got it done but frustrating.
 
Not a difficult job, just a bit heavy taking the axle housings off. You can even leave the oil in the housing, axles are dry. Pull off only one side at a time or the bull gear and differential will fall and you'll have to pull the rear cover off. You need to rig a puller to get the drums and bearing off. You can make one from a few nuts, washers and threaded rods.
 
I don't know of a video but it is pretty straightforward as long as everything comes apart nicely. I've got 2 H rear end tore apart currently. The first one the brakes were rusted solid and some brake parts broke coming apart. Also found a bad/rusted axle bearing and I am doing the axle seals while I have it apart.

I thought it would be a quick job but found more bad parts than I was hoping for. Luckily I have a parts H and a good helper. Below are some pictures of where we are at.

Brakes are similar to an A or B once the axle housing is removed.
 
Pat Browning had a couple of great books on the H. He covered all steps of restoration. You might try and locate one
 
I used my two-jaw puller like in your first picture but it was 1/4 inch short to reach the slots. I made up a set of longer straps for it. You have any spare parts? I'm working on mine a bit at a time, Email is open.
 
This puller was made by following the general instructions from one of the early Instructions and Parts List (Owner's Manual): Brake drum can be removed by placing the heads of two bolts through the square openings in drum, sliding the bolts in slots provided and then pulling drum off by putting a clamp bar over the end of the rear axle shaft and tightening the nuts on bolts.

I used a piece of 2x2x1/4 angle, but a thicker leg (5/16 or 3/8) wouldn't hurt. The two bolts are diameter carriage bolts x 8 long, which is what I happened to have. (6-1/2 length would be ideal.) To compensate for the excessive bolt length, I cut a couple of pieces of sch. 40 pipe x 1-5/8 long and lathe cut the ends for squareness and used them as spacers.
The carriage bolts must be angled to insert their heads into the keyhole slots of the drum, but they will fit. The square shank of the bolts prevents them from turning as you tighten the nuts.

Here's something a lot of people don't realize - those two 1/2 bolts, each torqued to 55 ft-lb, will give the same pull force as a puller with a single 3/4 diameter screw torqued to 165 ft-lb.

Thanks for all the help and comments I really appreciate good suggestions. I pulled the left wheel and hub and pulled the axle and housing out and found the brakes soaked in oil. Pulled the drum and bearing off and got everything cleaned up and ready to go back together when I get the linings. Should be here in a couple day. Had an ear broke off one of the adjuster pins the push the shoes out so I had to make one. Should be pretty simple going back together.thanks again everyone!!
