J D model H questions

Started working on my H I bought a few weeks ago. It was in two gears at the same time so I had to pull cover off tranny and got it in neutral and found that the snap ring on the shifter had come out of the groove and let the shifter get out of the slides. Got that fixed and working good.Mag cleaned up good and has good spark. Carb will get a new kit installed soon as it come in. Now to my real problem, both exhaust valves are stuck. Dont look too bad. I pulled the head to day and will start working on the valves tomorrow. My main question is can pushrods be straightened out. And if so what is the best procedure.
Two of them are bent and the other 2 are fine.

Yes pushrods can be straightened. All you need is a flat table and a small brass hammer. It takes patience and a light touch but you can get them almost perfect in a little while.

They are tubular so if you use a hammer be real careful. A dent will weaken it. I straightened mine using the slot on my table saw. Work your way gradually through the length a bit at a time.

Use a lot of loose juice and patience on those valves. Soak and tap lightly every day for as long as it takes. Sounds like you've got a winner there. The H is a unique tractor, if a little quirky. Good luck!

I have a set left over from a rebuild. If you need them, send E mail or give me a call 614-561-9454. I also have a set of standard pistons with new hasting rings installed and I think a hydraulic unit.

I'm sure they can be straightened, probably got bent due to stuck valves and careless turn engine over. One of mine has a very slight bend in it. Been like that since 1973 when I bought it. Never created a problem. It ran good before and has ever since. Remember these are old slow turning engines with low valve spring pressures.

Rusty, I only need 2 as the intake valves were not stuck, only the exhaust valves. Spoke with Sharps Tractor parts and they have pushrods for 9.95 each and I need to order a head gasket set also so Ill get a couple push rods. Thanks for help everyone!!
