John deere A rod bearings

I'm restoring a 1944 john deere A. When I picked the tractor up it was without an engine. I just got the crank out yesterday and plan to take it in to check for roundness and to get ground. I am currently having trouble finding out if undersized rod bearings are available for an A, if so how much undersized can i get? Also the main bearings I took out where shimmed with shim packs made up of a steel shim and multiple brass shims. Was wondering if there is a reason one is steel and the rest brass for when I go to reassemble and adjust the clearance

Stock connecting rods would have
adjustable babbitt type bearings similar
to what the main bearings are.

60 connecting rods can be used, and those
do have replaceable bearing inserts. I
put 60 rods in an A a couple years ago and
std/.010/.020 were all available. Look for
60 rod bearings and not A bearings.
