My 4520 is getting an engine

I just bought a 7720 combine for the engine to put in my very tired 4520. It might have to be next winters project as this winter seems full. Anyone need any 7720 parts? It is a yellow roof with rear wheel assist. It will be fun to have the old beast going again and have a few more horses under the hood. My 4520 did have the newer 404 with the intercooler. Tom
 
I installed a 7700 motor in my 4520 and sure brought it to life so that 466 will really make it pull, if you can keep it cool. There is a local guy that does alot of them hand has different fans he uses.
 
I don't expect it to be hard. It might take some changes as far as the water pump but should be a direct bolt in. Much easier than a late 404 ot 466 into a 4020. Tom
 
I have family in MD and we make the trip once a year and always take a trailer. We often travel in the turnpike and then come home on 70 to Indy then up through IL. Tom
 
Hello tom what lind of rear wheel assisst axle is it? If it the 4520 style I may be interested. Are you far from Whitewater WI?
 
Mine has the 4620 style air cleaner. My guess is the original 4520 filters went bad and the engine ate them and that is why it got the newer engine and filter set up. I am wondering if I can just add the intercooler off my current engine? It will never see any hard work around here as I do not have any big tillage equipment anymore. Tom
 
I think it would be fine without. A 4440 or 4450 can do a lot without. For whatever reason they seem to start better than the bigger engines, too.

The 8430, 4840, 4850, 4955, 8820 (all with P pumps), have lower compression and start harder.
 
I used an intercooler off an 8820 on my 4520. Not sure why i never really pull anything with it.
