The guy whos working on my JD 2440 head says he ordered a rocker arm from the local JD dealer (and he said the parts dept leaves a great deal to be desired since they were bought out) but anyway they said the part was obsolete but subbed to another part number. When it arrived it looked like a completely different animal. Instead of a cup on the end it has a ball end like the original push rod end. The parts guy just shook his head. I called a different JD dealer and he said he thought I would need to get a new push rod that has a cupped end and also a special nut but the Jd pic didnt show what the special nut was for. He also said I could use the new rocker arm and push rod with the existing rocker arms and wouldnt need to replace them all. He said it looked like JD was using the rocker arms from the 50 series a subs. Anybody know if it would be best to try to find NOS rocker arm instead, and if so where I can look for JD NOS rocker arms for a 2440? All the dealerships near me are now owned by the same big company and they have no NOS for me. Thanks.
