How do you guys dress up the rocker arm where the valve stem hits it ?
I have a couple with dings in them from the valve stem and thought I would smooth them back out.

Thanks.

Just tighten the valve adjuster til the pushrod won't rotate between your fingers then loosen the adjuster 1/3 of a turn. then you don't
need to flatten the rocker.

Quick and easy way is with rocker arm assembly off. Lay it on the workbench and use a small angle
grinder with sanding disks and dress them up. Just follow the original curve. Most don't seem to take
much to clean them up.

1/3 of a turn = exactly two flats on the adjuster

Supposedly this adjustment compensates for wear through out the valve train more adequately than just using a feeler gauge.

2X Diesel tech; The old B-D valve grinder had the best rocker-arm dresser! But use anything to dress the rocker-arm face 'flat' so you can run a feeler gauge through..
