Value of John Deere 40S

I bought a restored 1953 John Deere 40S on impulse and, although I think I got a fair deal, it's more than I usually spend so I'm already kind of second guessing myself.

I put restored in quotes because it means so many different things to people. The tractor is not Expo quality, but it is(I believe) mechanically sound, pretty straight tin work, and new Firestone tires(rears still have part of the nubs on them). The paint is decent, but doesn't shine as much as I would normally expect(I grew up in a body shop and Dad restored several tractors as well). The seat is yellow, while most that I have seen are black. I don't know how much that matters. It has a 3 point but is missing the top link.

Sorry, I do not have pictures yet.

Any ideas what it is worth?

Don't know what it is worth but never saw a 40S or standard in my part of country. Row crop versions but never a standard Single row cultivating tractor. Last model of that style sold here was the M and the MT took over. Never any of the newer tractors in the S version either.

Black seats were standard on all the lettered series, first numbered series and the 20 and 30 series tractors. Yellow seats were a no cost option on the 20 and 30 series with the exception of the all green 420s.

When I picked the tractor up it ended up being a mixed bag of good and bad. The paint was shinier than I thought and the battery cover(which wasn't in the pictures originally) was included. 3 of the tires have almost no wear(still have the bumps on them), but one is slightly more worn(still very deep tread) and has a couple cuts in the sidewall on the inside. There were some misc dings that I didn't notice in the pictures(crankcase breather, 1 headlight ring).
