3010 block heater recommendation

Debating whether to get a circ pump or just put one in my lowered radiator hose. I have a small line going from the side of block to the water pump. Is that where I would plumb in a circ pump? Also my lower radiator hose already has a splice so would be easy and probably cheaper to put one in it. I will try to load a pic. Thank you

Thanks for confirming. I was thinking the same. I think it may have had one in the lower hose too or they just didn't have the right hose. I also have wondered if this engine came out if something else because of the color.

The hose out of the block could be the inlet for a tank heater, but tank heater
outlet, the hot coolant should go into the middle of the head?? Hot coolant going into the
water-pump could be bad for the water-pump. ' Kat ' tank heater, 1000-1500 watt..

I have been using a magnetic heater on my 3020 for about 30 years in an unheated barn. I usually plug it in about 4 hours before use, got it for $2 at an auction, just saw one at TSC for $65. That 3020 with an 8 foot rear blade and a #48 loader has never failed me in snow removal conditions. The tractor is a gas engine and I live in central Indiana.................

I should also mention it had a cab but I don't know if ever had heat in it. the panels were removed and half the door so I don't know if they were putting it on or taking it off.

do you use it on the block or oil pan? That might work as I could use it on other tractors.

Photo below depicts how JD engineers installed a canaster coolant heater on a model 3010. Pipe nipple is 1/4'' X 7/8 that fits in LH side of engine block.

A correctly installed tank heater will heat and circulate just the block coolant. No need to heat
the coolant in the rabiator and let it escape through radiator setting out in the cold air. A tank
heater is efficient, the radiator hose ones are not. DW

Thanks. Had not thought of that. I seldom need one but would be nice to have if I need it.
