My R has not run since May and before starting it i checked the oil in the starting motor and was FULL of antifreeze. I guess it is going to pull the motor time but can you with more knowledge than me tell me what all different things would cause this?? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions. Gary.

well if those 2 cyl engines are like the v4's then its its the water pump seals leaking.

The pony shares coolant with the big engine, but as the water pump is physically separate from either engine, I doubt that a seal failure is your problem. I would begin with checking head gaskets as that can be done with the engine in place.

Thanks, guys.I also read on another forum that a water pump is not involved with the 2 cylinder starting engine on the R. Guess i will drain starting motor of whatever is in there and pull the heads first. Might not get to the heads until next spring. Thanks for your help, Gary.

You are right, no water pumps on an R. Could be head gasket, could be manifold gasket. Manifold is inlet, exhaust and water connection to the little engine.
