Identity of JD Wagon Gear/

I have a John Deere wagon gear (has JD logo on cast wheel hubs) and think it is probably a model 752. It is probably the most heavy duty gear on the farm and believe it might be a model 752 from comments I've received. It has what appears to be automotive leaf springs under each bolster where they attach to the axle frame component on both front and rear axles along with a rear hitch plate centered on the rear axle. It has an adjustable center pipe for various spacings between the two axles. Could someone provide a photo of a 752 for comparison? Thanks much as this is my first visit to this group, Hal.

A search in the online John Deere Parts Catalogs for model 752 up a tedder, not a wagon, so you may not get any pictures. Rather than asking for people to post pictures of a certain model wagon gear, your question might get an answer sooner if you post a picture of the wagon gear you have and see if people have an idea of the model. Have you checked for an ID tag? Most are located front or rear of one of the axles. The casting number on the hubs might help rule some models out, or in.

If it works, I have attached a link to the page I get on the parts catalog site by searching for "wagon". You can search through the different parts catalogs and see if you find one that matches. The springs are options on some gears, so those alone are not a defining thing on some.

To best of my knowledge ; JD did'nt make a model 752 wagon gear ; There is a 952 gear early style of the, very popular [all most famous] 953 & 963 JD wagon gears.... search .. JD parts .com .. 952 or PC 845.. Pic..

Looks just like the one I have - thanks much for the photo and I did realize my typo which should have been 952. Even the tongue looks identical. It's the only wagon gear I have ever seen with the leaf springs also - Thanks for your help, Hal.

Acording to books I have Deere made the 952 followed by the 953 and they never made springs for the 953 but did for the heavier 963 that is almost impossible to tell from a 953 with the 952 being older. What I heard the 963 had a quarter inch taller rear axle for more strength and a reinforsed on bottom toung. I had a 902 but not with the truck wheels but with 17 wheels.

953 parts catalog has spring bolster listed & IIRC my Dad's 953 had spring bolsters

Thanks to you folks on the JD board as I never expected to get so much detail about the wagon gear. Long story short, I bought the wagon to use in my restoration of a very rare IH fast hitch side delivery PTO driven hay rake for transport between my work shop, the sand blaster and painter during it's restoration. I never used the gear but had to replace the tires and rims as they were rotted and rusted out beyond use. I got new wheels from Hey Wheel in Baldwin, Kansas and bought some very good used tires from a local ag tire dealership but don't recall the size. I will check tomorrow and advise what tire size is on the gear. I need to further educate myself on the wagon gear as I need to attempt to sell the item and know next to nothing about JD gears. I certainly appreciate all the photos and excellent discussion supporting my thread on this topic as this has certainly been a very excellent learning experience. Thanks ever so much for your support in my behalf, Hal.
