Front mounted rockshaft for JD 620-630 tractors

Looking for a front mounted rockshaft to fit my JD 620 or 630 for cultivating corn and beans. I am currently using the more generic lift pipe setup that runs from the rear rockshafts to the front cultivator rigs. However after looking at some old JD publications it seems like the front rockshaft setup would make for a nicer cultivating job since the front rigs would have down pressure and the rear rig could be operated independently. Wondering if anyone has one they would like to sell or whether I could have a local welder fabricate one. Thanks,

Pete

My son has a set for the 520-30's and a set for 620-30's. Don't know if he wants to part with them. I think one is for a double cylinder and the other is for just a single. I
have the 620 one on my 620 right now but it is just for looks. We don't have the cylinders for it. I will ask him tomorrow if he wants to part with one.

I sold one a few years ago to a collector for $400. He wanted to put 2 cylinders on it for display on his restored tractor. You don't see them
real often. I have several sets for 10 and 20 series tractors. Tom

Do you think it would be easy enough to fabricate one? Looking at the parts breakdown it doesn't look complicated but I guess it has to be fairly close to original for a standard remote cylinder to operate the cultivator correctly.

Try calling Bowie Equipment in Tipton IA at 563-886-6946. Jim is a great person to work with and is reasonable on his prices. He has sheds
full of stuff and may very well have what you need. Tom

Guy used to restore and sell 2 cyl number series tractors years ago on MECUM GONE FARMING auctions, tractors were over-restored, with those side mounted rockshafts, any and all available front weights that might have been shown in the back of the Owner's manual, and about 4-5 sets of rear wheel weights. I have no idea what his name was, bet he sold over a dozen tractors over a 2-3 year period, was back when Dana Mecum was in charge of the Davenport farm tractor auction.
So those rockshafts are out there somewhere, probably at the bottom of a pile set aside to scrap someday, because they were Big and Heavy.

I've been thinking about this for a while now. Back when the up the road neighbor's estate sale happened there was such a cultivator that went on his 720. I think the whole assembly did not bring 50 bucks not including cylinders. I did not have a lot of money that day but now wish I had bought it.
