2630 hydraulic pump

I have a '74 2630 with the big pump. It just quit working all at once. I replaced the coupler a few years ago, I'm thinking the shaft got loose and the key fell out. Any other thoughts?
Tractor starts and runs, would it be detrimental to drive it in the shop without hydraulics?

I suggest to check to be sure trans pump is operating to be sure trans/shafts are getting lubrication before driving tractor very far. Trans pump output can be checked by placing clean container under tractor then removing hyd filter cover & engaging starter for 15 seconds(engine not operating) then measure oil in container. There should be a little over 1 gallon in container.

I suggest you check frt pump drive coupler. How long since hyd oil sump screen(item 30) was checked/cleaned? If your tractor has a destroking screw sometimes DS screw can be turned CW then CCW while engine is operating & this can allow any foreign material to be dispelled from stroke control valve seating area.

Another possibility is hyd filter relief valve(item 18-20) is stuck open.

If those 4 things don't correct problem then I suggest to perform good hyd diagnostics.

Thank you Jim! I cleaned the sump screen 2 years ago when I changed the oil and filter, it was not filthy then. The drive coupler I believe is the culprit, a pain to get to without pulling the radiator. Do you think driving it in the shop will be harmful to the trans without the pump working?

Harmful if driven would depend on distance from breakdown to shop.
