Proper wattage for a Kats tank heater for a 2940?

What would be the proper wattage tank heater for a JD 2940? Can't tell whats on it now. Is a Kats brand better than most? Current heater is over 10 years old and is acting like the cord has a short. Only use the tractor for snow removal during the winter. Recommendations welcome.

It appears at least some of the JD kits for a 2940 are the same part numbers as the 2030. I found them to be 1000 watts when i was getting one for my 2030. I installed a 1000 watt Kats heater. I can run it on a timer if I want it ready to go at a certain time.

There really isn't a proper wattage! How cold does it get where you live? Are you going to leave it plugged in all the time, or do you want it to preheat in 2 hours? Do you park it inside or outside? I only see 850 and 1500 watt available online.

I live in SE Iowa so the temp does get below zero. The tractor is kept in an enclosed building. I plug it in 2-4 hours before using it.

I have a 750 watt heater on my 2955 that fits in a frost plug type port. It will start the tractor at minus 20F after about 3 or 4 hours but the tractor does grump a bit. I also have a 1500 watt tank heater in a 2120 which will lift the temp gauge in half an hour. Much easier on the engine.

I had a 750 in my 2550 before and always had to plug in a couple hours before it would start. Replaced it with a 1500 and within 45 minutes itll fire right up no matter the temp outside. But like mentioned, I probably wouldnt leave it plugged in for hours at a time.

I think the Kats ones have a thermostat, so if you leave it plugged in longer it should stop heating so as not to waste electricity. 1500 is plenty to have it warmed up in an hour or so.
