Spark Plugs

Presently running Autolite 3116 in my 1945 hand start A. Would anyone care to recommend the brand they prefer/use? Thanks!

What are you using the engine for? Hard work or putzing around? If you are putzing around putting a few yours on every year I think about any brand plug with the right heat range will do the job. If you have too cool of a plug and it carbons up you dont necessarily have a bad brand of plug. A hotter plug in the same brand might solve the problem. I am talking about old tractors. Cars and pickups are a different ball game. Back when our two bangers on our farm earned a hard days work we seemed to have the best luck with AC. Ten years ago so so I got a good deal on some Champion D21 plugs and gradually the two bangers got these D21s. I havent had a lick of trouble with them. If these tractors went back to doing hard work every day I certainly would not be using a D21 heat but I dont know if the Champions would peter out on me or not. Its been 45 years since these tractors spent time in the field and in a 45 year time span brands can change in quality.

With a Magneto Ignition a NON Resistor plug is my preference of which the 3116 is the case, and as its near the heat range of 386 or 388 (they are resistor) that's the plug I recommend......if it aint broke dont fix it lol
