I want to install a single wire alternator to my 401B to make things much easier. Ny 401B has the same four cylinder engine as several farm tractors. Is there a alternator that has similar mounting as my original JD? Thanks stan

Is your current alternator a Motorola, Delco, or something else? Original was a Motorola with external regulator. A Delco should fit in place of it with minor, if any, shimming needed. I won't ask why you think a one wire will be easier. If you change to a Delco from a Motorola, you may need a different pulley, I don't remember off hand if the Motorola pulley will work on a Delco. And you want as small a diameter as you can get.

A generic "Bosch" internally regulated alternator is a closer match to the original Motorola than a "Delco", even the pulley will fit.

GOOGLE "TY6750".
