This is the final stab at getting a thermostat in this thing that I am the closest to being comfortable with. I went back to Arnold's this morning and pored through their thermostat book. The closest I could come up with was a 2.623 diameter 180 degree thermostat. The factory thermostat is 2 7/8. This one has a larger opening for coolant flow. I hacked a ring out of thick gasket paper to put around the thermostat to keep it centered or near centered. Some day I will have gasket cutting dies big enough to let me stamp out a ring this size from gasket paper without hacking with a utility knife. Anyway, it will be buttoned up now and I won't bore you guys any more with it. I never thought I would have to go through this much hassle to find a simple thermostat that I am satisfied with for a common tractor like the 730. There will be some tense moments of anticipation when I warm the tractor up for the first time.
