John Deere B Carburetor

I recently purchased a 1939 John Deere B tractor. I'm new to collecting and learning but cannot find an answer to this question. The tractor has a DLTX-73 carburetor installed which isn't the correct carburetor for this year tractor. The tractor will idle but not run at full throttle. The previous owner rebuilt the carburetor but it has been sitting awhile and I think needs to be gone through and cleaned. Before I invest into a rebuild kit can someone tell be if the tractor should run properly with this carburetor or should I search for an older model carburetor. It is supposed to have the DLTX-10. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The 73 is too big for your 39. You are
getting too much fuel which is preventing
proper running. I would invest in a
dltx10.

Wish you lick finding a DLTX10 carb there hard to come by and there an all fuel carb. I have my Grand Fathers 1935 JD-B and if has been in the family since 1940

I put an late b gas 67 carb on a early B
with no ill affect that had a dltx33 a
carb on it. That 33 was too much. But that
73 is a late b all fuel carb. In my mind I
don't think it's too much if the tractor
has got a gas manifold and Pistons in it.
Also a up to snuff ignition system. I do
have a couple 10s I would sell if you are
interested though.
