5/16" STEEL brake line should work.
If it still has the original fittings that mate with the line you will need to silver solder steel "glands" to the ends of the line and use the matching nuts.
You can unsolder and re-use the old parts or Deere and aftermarket suppliers still have those parts.
I don't have the part numbers at hand, and archive search should turn up some similar threads that include those numbers.
As to a bender, there's all sorts of choices, for this rather simple project you shouldn't have to buy a real expensive one.
