In search of John Deere 50 Behlen Power steering unit

Hey guys Im looking for one of these power steering units for my John Deere 50 tractor. Let me know what you have. Thank you.

What is the condition of it and possible price? Would pay to have it shipped to Northeran Minnesota. Thanks

Something to be aware of is the steering shaft diameter on the 50 is smaller than it is on the larger tractors. I have a Behlen unit to put on my 50. It came off of a larger tractor, and I'll have to enlarge the hole above the dash or turn down the shaft diameter before I can use it. Either option is do-able - I just haven't gotten started on it yet.

I hope you post about how your Behlen installation turns out.

Why don't you find a factory unit and install it? The salvage yards should have a good supply of them. Then you won't have a cobb job when you are done. Could be the 520 and 530 would work too. A little time in the parts books will tell for sure.

X2. No experience with Behlen, but Char Lynn is a superior system to factory. MAybe not as pretty, but it will work better and be less finicky.

Not sure how you can claim the Char-Lynn system is better if you have never been around the Behlen. The Behlen was International's pick for factory installation on 300/400/350/450. I did a boat-load of hours on a '57 450 gas, plowing, disking, cultivating with IH #461 4 row frt mount cultivator, as a scrawny 11 year old kid turning on headlands cultivating was NEVER a problem, so the Behlen system must have been Ok. The year before I cultivated some with Super M-TA and #455 cultivator with Char-Lynn PS as an even scrawnier 10 yr old and I got along.
Dad put Char-Lynn on his '51 M because it was his loader tractor 10 months of the year and had the 2M-E picker mounted the other 2 months for for 15 years, since then it's been full time loader tractor. You get something REALLY heavy on/in the loader and try turning the frt wheels standing still the Char-Lynn stalls, oil bypasses. The Behlen would probably do the same.
The loader tractor I clear snow with, Farmall Super H doesn't have PS, on H/SH you have to cut a huge hole in the hood about 10 inches ahead of the muffler for the pump/reservoir to stick out.

If you read my post, Char Lynn was a better system than factory was my comment / opinion. I did ot compare to Behlen, because like I said, I had no experience there. I've had plenty experience with Char lynn systems, and when you can cultivate with a four row on the front with one finger, I think that's pretty good for an add on system... which was my experience.
