Hi All. Newbie here. Just bought my first tractor. It's a Model 50 and the serial # is 5033035. I guess my first question is what year is it? My best guess is 53 to 56? It seems like a really good tractor and is in great condition. I just can't find much information about it online.

As I have questions, do I just keep adding to this post or do I create a new one each time?

56 model, look at the column to the left of this page and you will find Serial Numbers, click on it then the make then the model.

Great. Thank you. 1956

Looks a lot like mine which is a 1956. Those round hole in the rear wheels mean it is definitely no an early model which has window size holes.

It is customary to create a new post for each topic. Say, for example, that you have questions about the rockshaft, charging system and carburation, each one of those should be a separate post. You can certainly ask follow up on each topic, but if it is a while since the topic was active, you would get more responses if you started with a new one on the topic.

The Two Cylinder Club can search the serial number at the Deere archives . They will send the info such as build date , shipping date , branch warehouse , destination and options .

thats a nice looking 50, please keep posting here, we need all the members and activety we can get,
theres a great group of people on here !

Looks like your tractor was shipped as a block of 5 to Montana. They all left on 3/9/56 5033033-5033037:

Serial# 5033035
Model# 50AB
Ship Date 3/09/56
Destination: BILLINGS MONT

Welcome to the JD 50 family, I have had mine for over 20 years now and always brings a smile to my face driving it around, 1953 nf

I found a loader. It's a JD Model 45. After looking at some pictures I am wondering if it will work. The tractors in all the pictures the loader is on have the front wheels close together where mine are further apart. If that's the case, what type of loader should I be looking for?

Found out it's a 56. How do I go about finding the right implements for this tractor? I need a back blade like yours, a loader, a post hole digger and a tiller. I did buy a brush hog at the same auction but now I'm wondering if it will work on this tractor.

A 520 would have made the three
Point hitch plans much simpler .
There are aftermarket three point hitch kits that provide a reasonable a reasonably legitimized upper link mounting point .

It looks very nice. I have a 50 made in 1955. The first digit in its SN is a 3 also. I see it's been switched to an alternator. I assume it has live PTO.

I prefer black seat cushion and back rest.

Since it was shipped from factory to Montana I assume you are in Montana?

I'm in Wy. Wife and I bought 6.5 acres a couple years ago and decided we really need a tractor to do a lot of the stuff we need to do. Picked this up at an auction a couple weeks ago. I've been trying to track down a loader. I found a 45W but it's not in great shape. Do you know if other loaders will work or do I need to stick with a 45W?

If you want to have a JD loader, the 45 W is most "correct" for that tractor. But there should be several other brands available if brand is not important to you. I remember my Dad had a Johnson Workhorse loader on a John Deere B and I would assume that could be used on a 50. I don't know anything about "modern" loaders that might work.
