3 way fuel valve

GREETINGS TO ALL!

I bought a 1943 slant dash "A" with the hood/gas tank off and the cylinder head off. Now I'm to the point of installing parts that I did not remove. The problem I'm having now is connecting the 3 way fuel valve to the rod that is used to turn the valve. The governor is blocking a straight line between the 3 way valve and the opening in the dash for the rod. As it is now the 3 way valve would have to go up about 1" to clear the governor. The rod was not included in the parts I received so I am using a straight rod from the hardware store. I can fabricate the part that connects the rod to the 3 way valve.

It is an aftermarket 3 way valve but holding it up besides the original it looks to have the same dimensions.

Does anybody have good pictures of the 3 way valve with the rod installed, especially as it goes over / around the governor? I'm beginning to think this tractor has miss matched parts.

THANKS!

Take a look at the photos below.

Hope this helps.

I think I have a NOS part that hooks the rod to the shutoff. It looks like a piece of short conduit with holes drilled in it. The part currently eludes me.

The 44 Model A I resurrected had a 2 piece rod to operate the fuel valve & it cleared all the linkage fine. But I made it into a short hood & got rid of the slant dash. So the Starter is easy to service...

Now that's funny!

Many years ago I started taking photos to document the work that was done on various tractors and equipment.

I would follow the steps in the operators and service manuals and take a photo.

I would then identify the parts using the parts manual and label the parts in the photo.

The photos would then be copied to various folders depending on the task at hand.

The two photos above are in a folder named [b:654c4848f0]3-way All Fuel Valve[/b:654c4848f0].

This learning process has helped me a lot over the years.

This most called for "[i:654c4848f0]<a href="https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ttalk&th=2224450">how to</a>[/i:654c4848f0]" was updated a couple of days ago.

Thanks to all and especially James for the pictures. There is definitely something wrong with my set-up. If the shaft of my 3 way valve is parallel to the ground, it is the same height off the ground as the ventilation tube. Since posting I've found several pictures of tractors with 3 way valves and the valve shaft is always higher than the ventilation tube.

Think I'm going to "tilt" the shaft upwards and make a rod with a swivel at the end!
