Is pushing the clutch pedal during cold weather starting a benefit with Power Shift or quad range ? To Reduce the drag on the starter while churning transmission shafts , gears, clutches and drums through cold lube oil .

NO

I think pushing clutch pedal while attempting to start engine JD 20 series rowcrop tractor with Powershift trans won't help engine start running any easier. That's the reason these model tractors had damper clutch disconnect mechanism to utilize so trans input shaft doesn't rotate while attempting to start engine in extreme cold temps.

In reference to Quadrange trans Perma-clutch has pressure applied from a spinning trans pump so technically clutch won't engage until trans pump exerts sufficient psi to move clutch engagement piston against pressure plate fingers to apply pressure to disks.

IIRC later model tractors such as my 4255 have an extra safety feature with Quad-range trans had a valve added so clutch won't have engagement pressure after starting engine until clutch pedal has been cycled in/out.
