Carb settings

Anyone know what to set the idle and power settings at on Dltx 13 for a 1944 D hand start? I had it apart and cleaned it and the power needle was in seven turns which is bottomed out.

It varies and I'm sure some others have other opinions. But first off, we start with both bottomed out and then count the turns out. For myself, I start with 1 1/2 turns out on the idle screw and one turn on the load screw. Once it is running, warm and at idle, I screw the idle in until it starts to die and then back out until it picks up speed again. Since the load needle affects the engine when it is under load, I usually leave it at one turn until I can work the engine and then adjust it accordingly.

The load screw being out seven turns may be from someone messing with it or it may be an indicator that you have some plugged passages. But that is something to worry about if these initial settings don't work.

Thank you. Now I have a place to start. Someone had pulled the nozzle out and broke off a little piece, so I bought a new one. Like I say the power needle was bottomed out. The idle one was seven turns in, making it 2 1/3 rds out from the bottom. I didn't find anything plugged.

DLTX 13 is just the bowl number. The carb number is on a flat spot near the load screw.

Your right. It's a 63, not a 13. I wrote the wrong number here when I posted.
