Hoses that I see online here ( the parts department) show them listed as for 1010D is there a difference for the Gas model or are they the same size ?

I replaced mine last year and could not find them for a gas. I ended up going to Napa with the hose I removed and bought something off the shelf that was the correct ID and OD. I want to say it was for a Ford SUV and had multiple bends in it. I just cut out what I needed and have saved the rest for projects. I want to say I spent about $28. My local JD was not helpful on this at all and were the ones who told me to try Napa.

This was for a 1010 RS Gas.

Yes having the same results I was trying to put a heater in the bottom hose, matchted the hoses but found the Kats heater is 1/4 inch too long to fit in the area neaded , So back too the drawing board. Anybody got an ideas??

A few days ago, a fellow posted a couple pictures of his 1010 crawler, on jdcrawlers.com Early Models Board, of how he mounted a tank type heater and the hoses. You might take a look at his pictures for an idea on installing a tank heater on yours.

Ya put a tank heater on, all the bottom radiator heaters will not work. Not enough room between engine and radiator for that type of heater.
I am the individual that posted pictures on JD crawler forum. I have the parts manual that shows the tank type heater and all the parts needed. I can email you the pictures and page with the factory parts for the tank heater

Reading his posts again, it sounds like his is gas. Looking in the parts catalog the head and water manifold are different. He may have a plug in one or the other he could remove to return the heated coolant through, without needing to make an adaptor as you did.
