148 loader on 3020

I posted question a couple times about loaders for a 3020. Thanks for the comments and opinions. Ill post a few pics. I did find a JD 148. Owner kept the bucket as he had a couple 158 loaders and wanted the extra bucket. Now looking for the skid steer adapter and some attachments.

That’s a nice loader I’d like to modify my du- al so it only has
the front mounts like you have . I really like the idea of the
skid loader hitch for the bucket

Like wise, the frame bolts should be torqued down to 250 ft lbs with out a loader and 275 ft lbs with a loader. I like to use a little blue loctite on the threads.

The carriage bolts that you used to mount the brackets to the frame, are they the hardened ones or the ones that you get from the local hardware store?

That will be a nice set up.I like the addition of a joystick plumbed in the lines and returning to the filter housing. The MDS quick tach is a good set up. Been awhile but wasnt there a frame strengthener that
bolted on inside of frame,Seen a few with frame rail damage due to not keeping bolts tight. I have had several and the wide front if abused can break spindles ,knees, or worse main frame. One of the places I
always look at when buying a used 20 series is the wide front for welding.

The 48 loaders came with the inside frame rail support for the 3020 I believe. And there are stories of damage to 3020 frame rails or engine blocks. From what I read the mounts for the 148 resolved some of the problems as they extend to the front of the tractor and are supported by the front bracket and re-enforced by the cross brace underneath also. Part of the reason I chose the 148 was the improved mounting brackets. The other reason was the twin bucket cylinders. This loader won’t get heavy use. I previously had a Farmhand 258 (copy of a JD 158)on a 4020. I used that setup for big round bales. No wide front problems on the 4020. I’m careful with my equipment. No bouncing over frozen ruts wide open with a 1600 bale on front.
