I'm tackling two oil leaks in my 'new to me' 401c. The first to fix is the significant leak on the PTO shaft. I tried to revive an older thread on a similar leak for a 401b (here https://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/viewtopic.php?t=1407819 ) but I don't think I did it right so I'm starting a new thread.
My questions:
1) Is this as simple as removing the 3 bolts and pulling the housing (#1) in order to get to the seal (#3)? I assume the bearing pack (#4- 7)) is pressed into the housing and require special tools and/or methods to get to the seal.
2) Does the entire shaft come out with the housing or does the housing just slide over the PTO shaft that stays in place?
3) Any items to consider before pulling the housing (other than draining the fluid and having the seals ready)? Or having the tractor angled down on a good slope/ditch?
