JD 1980 510 Backhoe

I just purchased a john deere 510 backhoe. It will be my project since I'll be home. The issue is it is not running and I can not move it
until I get the hoe/boom into the traveling position. After I get it home I'm pretty sure ill be back in this forum.

You can utilize another FEL or lifting device to raise stabilizers & boom. Move hyd valve control lever while raising component. You'll probably need to chain each component in its desired position. Was unit stored inside or outside? I'll bet hyd oil reservoir has moisture in it. Moisture is very detrimental hyd operated clutch/brake disks.
Be sure to put trans disconnect lever on LH side of trans in "tow position" before moving TLB.

You're welcome. Do you know why the 510 was taken out of service. Do you understand the concept of closed center hyd's? I suggest you acquire a correct JD 510 tech manual.

it was going to be painted but someone took the radiator and oil cooler. The guy I got it from got too busy to work on it.

I am getting the manuals to understand this machine.
