John Deere 60

I'm not getting any spark to the plugs I have power to the coil and power to the points but no spark from the coil wire is the coil bad? I always struggle with ignition thanks for any advice Howard

The points probably need to be filed. They are not making a connection between them.

With the ignition on carefully open and close the points by hand. You should get a small spark when you do that. No spark means the points are dirty and need to be cleaned or replaced

If you pull the coil wire out of the distributor and hold it close to a ground you should get a spark when you manually open the points.

Yes that too but doing both at the same time with out getting zapped can be hard to do.

By the way your handle he is what I was in the Navy. I was an E.T.

That's what I was saying I have no spark there when I try that so does that mean the points are bad or the coil is bad thanks
