JD 4010 LP electrical question

Hello,
We are putting this one back together, it is missing a lot of parts.
The parts book shows a 6 volt coil.
it is a 12 volt system with one battery, with rebuilt 12 v generator and new voltage regulator.
So does it actually just use a 6 volt coil?? is my question
thank ya'll

Ifffffffff it has an inline series voltage dropping (12 down to 6 volts) Ballast Resistor (Sorry no wiring diagram here, maybe another fine gent has one and can verify that??), YES it would use a 6 volt coil. On a 12 volt tractor the ballast would drop approximately 6 volts leaving the remaining 6 volts for a 6 volt coil. A start ballast by pass system improves cold weather starting in such equipped tractors.

Tech manual for 3010/3020 shows resister is on ign switch

Thankfully the other fine gents had diagrams showing the ballast resistor and thereby confirming the 6 volt coil in question.....

PS to be safe given the rebuilt generator I would polarize it before start up if you haven't already

Thank you all, I found the diagram in volume 2 of service manual, we just got the full set of books from Jensales.

I still may need to order AR28403 circuit breaker looks like?
Our serial number is 30854 a 1962 model

Wiring diagram shows a wire from key switch to circuit breaker and circuit breaker to light switch

We have a full wiring set coming from Brillman next week.

One more question

Will it hurt to have the voltage regulator mounted to generator?

We don't have but could make the plate it should go on above generator.

Good question "Will it hurt to have the voltage regulator mounted to generator?"

Its done that way HOWEVER there are soft rubber mounts used so the VR doesn't vibrate so badly. The VR's outer conductive metal case/frame needs a good solid ground and they use a small piece of very flexible braided copper wire for the ground path (genny needs good ground also of course)

"We don't have but could make the plate it should go on above generator."

Other locations are fine provided there's a good ground path

AGAIN maybe the other gents have a picture or diagram showing the original VR location ?????????????? I just dont have any
