john deere b color

I recently had a B model passed down to me and I just happened to notice that it looks like it was originally yellow. I personally have never seen a yellow John deere. Does anyone know anything as to why it would be

Well if it low to the ground it could be
a BI it should be marked on its tag.
Other wise farmers painted them any color
that was left over from doing a shed or
something and had paint left over so the
tractor got it to try and keep it from
rusty.

I believe it's to new to be a bi from what I've read. I was just surprised when I chipped away at it and found that to be the base color. I wasn't sure if maybe it was some kind of primer they used back then.

I agree you are seeing primer, although after the first three number series tractors came out many older two numbered series and
even letter series tractors got the same yellow stripe paint scheme. I have this one as proof, a 70D std. painted to look like a
720. You would not believe how many viewers will try to tell me the tractor pictured IS a 720, trust me it is a 70D, some day it
may get painted correctly.

I kind of like some of the repaints used to make them match the newer models. Shows the character of the tractor. I know what you mean by comments. I had a 69 Z28 Camaro with an early small journal 327. Everybody could not wait to let me know it was the wrong motor. Like I didn't know. I finally put in a 350 with the correct build date and milled the numbers off the block.
