i just bought a 430 and wondered about the air cleaner, mine is a 59 but has just the cap not the precleaner with the globe type, was this an option or on late production types?

this one also has the seat with 2 rubber "springs" in it instead of the metal frame and cushion like on a 420, what was this style of seat called, i need to order a cpl of "springs"
for it, thanks in advance for all your help

Standard equipment on the 430 was the rounded globe type cleaner above the hood. A pre cleaner was an option. The 430 Float Ride seat only has one rubber spring, and more pins and bushings then you can count. The springs are available from several sources on-line. I've found a fellow named Jim Bowie 563-886-6946 who has provided me with a complete kit to rebuild the seat, but it isn't cheap. Make sure the sheet metal is in good shape, especially the seat pan.

I also have a 430 I inherited from my uncle. Nice little tractor. 1st thing to find is operator manual for it whether original or reprint, tells you the things you need to know to keep it running. Also figure out which model you have, Utility, row crop, etc. Should be on the serial number tag. When looking for parts you need to know which model as they are often vastly different and for some reason 430 had a BUNCH of different models or configurations. Look up JD parts on line and it will help answer some questions as far as seat type. My uncle had a JD#35 loader on mine for years, bouncing over ditches and all. Without power steering and a loader get a gym membership to work on arm strength. Lots of knowledge on this board and people are glad to answer any questions.
