My son was teddering hay and the JD530 started running rough and miss firing. The engine acts as if it is under a load. We run good gasoline in it. Not sure what it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How about the history on the tractor, it would help with the guys who read this forum who are a lot smarter than me. My advice is to check the simple stuff first, plugs, points, cap and air cleaner for blockage. Also how old are the plug wires. Are you getting good fuel flow to the carburetor. Last time my tractor started acting up all it took was cleaning the points up, of course after I spent half the day banging my head against the barn

Condenser has been replaced, that’s the first thing that I did. It’s not the Conderser, I always have new points and Condenser on standby. It’s acting like it has a load on the engine. I started it cold and the temps went up quicker than normal. Few minutes of running and temps were up to 170.

If the temps climbed quick your timing is off, maybe broken weight springs or bound up in distributor?
