I have a 730 Diesel where the power steering was acting up about a half hour into mowing pastures. It was one finger steering at the beginning, then turn to pretty much impossible. I bought a book on that system, but, was told to move the steering valve, which I did, rearward, since the wheels went to the right on its own, and almost impossible to steer left.
Moving the power steering valve, fixed the problem, temporarily, then did the same thing again. Not sure why moving the valve would change anything permanently anyways. Is something worn out? Do I need to take out the power steering pump and rebuild it?
I got the tractor not too long ago. The first time the steering went bad, it seemed to have little fluid. But, I filled it with the correct JD PS fluid at the correct level, and the problem came back (after adjusting the valve as described above).
Thanks
Bob
