I have 3 Bs. A '39 that a friend gave me 2 yrs ago when he sold his acreage and moved to town. It had been stuck for over 20 yrs. I just got it running last Fri, and hand crank started it today twice. I have the '43 B that I grew up on, it is also a hand crank tractor, and I have a '50 B that I bought out of a junkyard 40 yrs ago, got it running, put a FEL on it and used it for snow removal for 25 years or so. The B John Deere is one of my favorite models.

I have a '48 B with an ABG90 plow and live hydraulics.

I have a 1935 JD B that I can tract it history all the way back to 1940 when my Grand Father got it. I have the original owners manual that came with it when new. I played on it when I was a kid and so have my grand kids so that makes 5 generations of my family on that tractor. Serial number 9405 if I remember right

I have a 35 and a 44 , both hand start. The 35 was owned by a member of the treshing crew & was the 1st hand clutch JD I drove. They are to be auctioned off on Sat. Aug 15th.

Dad bought a 50 B in 1958 but kept it only two years. he claimed it used too much fuel for the horsepower. He traded it for a new 630.

I have a 1940 factory slant dash. It came with electric start and lights. Slanted dash is fairly common on the model A, but I’ve only seen one other slanted dash B.

I have a 1937 unstyled short frame BN on factory round spoke rubber. Don't have any story to go with it because my uncle bought it when he decide to collect a few tractors. Never got around to restoring and he gave it to me which I did restore.

I have one. In fact mines a BN. Problem is I didn't know the rarity or uncommonness when I sort of parted it out to restore my 37' BN mentioned in my other post.

I have a 49 with fenders, lights and three point someone put on. Runs good, but locks up in the drive gears somewhere. Sometime I plan on getting inside of it to see whats going on.

I have 4 of them. 1936,1945,1948 & 1951 I grew up on the 1951 I would stand on the platform and steer while my uncle sat in the seat to keep an eye on me and keep me out of trouble. I like the power of the later ones. I have had countless number of them in years past bought and sold and mostly parted out.

I have a 1935 B that Grandfather, Father, and now I own. Mostly loader tractor and mowing hay that I remember. 2 row cultivator in it's early years. Way back when my uncle Floyd was in a motorcycle accident and all he could do was cultivate corn (both ways). Grandfather said it was the cleanest corn they ever had.

Mike M,

Did your 1951 B have a factory water pump? Every time I see a late styled B I check to see if it has a water pump and have only seen one that was original. A friend has one that he added a water pump to but I do not count that one as I know it was added after market which was more common for A's and G's, especially G's as they would get too hot.

The first picture is a 1938 JD B

The second picture is a 1935 Brass Tag, I can't find the before picture.

The third picture is the 1938 before we started

Same grandson in first and second pictures.

Hope this works, first time to post pictures

No water pump. But it does have the extra round holes in the rear cast wheel centers. IIRC that was the first year for them ? But I may be off a year ?

I have a ‘42B I just picked up as a project and a ‘35 Brass tag with fenders and Behlen overdrive I take on tractor rides. No unique stories, just a lot of fun to tinker with and drive!

Very sharp B Dan! I particularly noticed and like the front side weights. What is the source of these weights?
Thanks Richard.
