Good evening,
I have a 47 D and noticed a growl sound when I drove it into the shop. I have only drove It maybe 1000. Took the cover off and rotating the wheels by hand quite a growl. I took the drive chains off and the growl is definitely in the diff gears. I have the whole diff out of the tractor now but it took all day so I havent pulled the gears apart yet. Any suggestions on what to look for or do for repair.

Please post your findings........

Thanks

Bob..

I found the pinion gears have a fair bit of wear and are sloppy on the pinion shafts. The pinion shafts how ever have a little wear but nothing serious, im going to have bushings made for the pinion gears.
I also found that the inner race #13 is not pressed onto the shaft all the way leaving at least 3/16" play between #12 and #13 there are no adjusting washers #11. I think the bearing sleeve was not pressed on all the way to adjust end play in the shaft??
My plan is to press the bearing sleeve on further and put bushings in the spider gears and hope this gets rid of the majority of the clashing gear noise. It says to take up shaft end play end thrust washers#16 so I dont know what I will do there. I have no thrust washers to adjust with. Any Ideas???
