4020 zenith carb

I am rebuilding a zenith carb off a 4020. The accelerator pump wont pull out of the float bowl. That just drops in there right? Dont want to put too much force on it. I thought the steel ring pushes in and locks in the throttle body section?

They get stuck and are an item that commonly needs to be replaced, do what it takes to get it out and drop in a new one.

I soaked it overnight in penetrating oil and it came out pretty easy today. Not sure what it was stuck on. Pump seems pretty simple, not much to wear there. Suprises theres no rings around the brass plunger.
