Frank,

Tims 4wd unit is pretty neat, but I think I'd like his 60C more.

Get Tim S to put a front wheel assist on it to pull it up the hill empty.

Pull the pin while you're still alive.

Dave,

The 1955 60 is the first tractor I bought in 2004. It had sat in a fencerow for about 10 years with a 4row cultivator on it. It needed a manifold set and a full set of tires. I used to cultivate with it, but went 6 row. It used to pull a pair of bar rakes on a tandem hitch, but I got rid of that setup. I now have a Krone 42t, and the ol' 60 doesn't have the hydraulic capacity to pick it up. It used to move feed every week, but now only does when my 2030 is on the rake. Less and less useful every year, but I won't sell it. I use it when I can just to put a smile on my face.

The answer I was looking for was - "Holy cow! I can't believe you pulled them around empty!"

The boxes each weigh 3000 lbs empty, so they weigh as much as the tractor. I was just taking them down to the last 6 acre field of oats, I'll use my 4640 to pull them back up one at a time.

Now, how to get across that stream with my 7721 without tearing off the straw chopper... I'm slipping up to east of Madison this morning to pick up some railroad bridge ties to see if I can make a removable bridge

Paul, I absolutely agree with you.

I can't even imagine that the designers of that tractor would have considered a load like that and the brakes needed to stop it.

And sometimes you NEED to bring all that weight to stop QUICKLY to avoid disaster.

Not so much a question of what you can haul as what you can stop. Assume 500 bushel(30,000lbs.) + two wagons (6,000lbs.) = 36,000lbs. JD 60(5,000lbs), guess who wins?

More than you think. I move 500 bu around (2 wagons) with my A, G, and 70 in the fall. Stopping is the biggest issue.
