JD 300 windrower platform twin knife.

Having problems with the twin knife meeting at center sometimes
hit and break sections on the end. What to do, have tried most if
not all ideas still no fix. Anyone have ideas. Thanks.

It's been a long time but...

Are the guards bent? Is there a bar that extends on the end of one of the sickles over the top of the other? Are the hold downs set correctly? Is there some washers under one of the hold downs to maintain the extra gap?

Can you post a picture? It might be easier to see what is wrong vs just trying to explain things.

Thanks for the reply. We did an overhaul of the sickles they were bent. Took them out and to the local welder here and got the bow out of them. Also who ever had this before used some guards that didnt fit. Removed several of those and replaced with JD guards.Between those two fixs it sort of is working. Mowed for about 4 hours no problems and windrowed some barley for combining and worked well. Thanks very much for the come back and ideas.
