I've been putting off tire and tube replacement but can't do it any longer. Where do I shop for tires that will look right on a 41? All four

Miller Tire is very good. So is Simple Tire. Carlisle carries a wide assortment of multiple styles, but can be pricey. Ditto for Titan, TDK, Armstrong, Firestone, and Astro.

I believe Miller Tire has a special section for the older tractors that includes all of the OEM tire offerings instead of just one like the others. Best check freight before purchase. I bought a new 13.6x38 rear and the delivered freight rate was 75% of the tire cost from some of the vendors. Shop wisely.

I got some Harvest King fronts a few years ago.
They wouldn't expand on the cast wheels.

Thanks. I checked Simple but could not find any match for my tire size. Miller had little selection for my 9.5-32 (1 Titan I don't like style of) and I see a Carlisle front 4.0-15 that looks. About $1000 for the 4 and $ 226 shipping to Lafayette, LA. Maybe. gotta do something

Shipping can be a real killer, but what can you do? You are lucky. The one 13.6x38 with tube was well over $1000 by the time I got it delivered.

When I got into the rear tire replacement the rear rims were badly rusted internally. One of them must be replaced. JD 1251 R is the part number (Disk and rim). Dealer cant order obsolete part. Can't find on this site. Please advise

I did a major rebuild of a bad rim in1975. The bead area was still good, but the interior was really bad. I had a local shop cut a 1/8 plate and roll it to the interior diameter. The plate was almost perfect. Width was exact and length was 1/2 too long.

Started working the plate around rim with tack welds, trimmed the end with grinder for a butt weld. Welded every together tight very careful not to overheat. Split center of plate with cutting wheel on grinder. Hammered the center fown to make a recess for mounting tire, then welded that up solid.

I used most of a 50# box of e6013 welding rods so I would have a smooth weld with little finish grinding. Cut up the old tube and used as a liner from bead to bead to prevent any rough areas from damaging new tube.

The repair lasted 45 years in CaCl ballasted rears. Not too bad for a repair. Repair gave way this spring and damaged the dry rotted tire bead. Not bad service for a repair. Replaced tire and rim this spring. See photo of rim and you can see why the rim gave way.

Thats admirable work. American farmers - when its broke we fix it. I got my tractor from my Dad who was ingenious. Im going to get a rim from Steiner Tractor ordered today. With shipping $200. Then Ill get some one to cut the old one off my hub, weld on the new one and paint it.

That one looks unrepairable with the bead damage. It would be a tremendous amount of work to bring the bead back to where it would seat. I got a little antsy putting the new tire and tube on the new rim. Had to pump up to 32 psi before the bead seated. Never had to do that before. One experiencrd tractor fellow reminded me that the old tires were 4 ply and the new one I got on sale was 8 ply. Much stiffer sidewall.

You can see my new tire mounted. That rim is in rough shape but I decided to stay with it. When I figure out what this rim and welding/ paint is going to cost I may go back and do them both. Have not looked at front rims yet. I wonder who has experience with these front rims?
