spark difference in REACH

1937 (A) JD autolite spark plugs 3077 reach to edge of cyl wall as they should no longer avail, 3076 do not have the same amount of reach they will FIRE in the plug hole instead of in the cyl is there a PROBLEM with that, what can be bought that has the same amount of reach as the 3077,

Champion(589) W89D is a long reach plug like the 3077.

Chuck them in a lathe and cut the shoulders down deeper . I do that with Autolite 3116 or they won't reach the bottom of the threads.
