Anybody buy the replacement front rims From John Deere they are pretty good price are they painted yellow ?

There are different load rating for rims, I would suggest that you look in to that. Also, I do suspect that they will get them from A&I

Deere has never made rims. Years ago they were all electric wheel company. Now many are Titian. A good tire shop should be able to get what you want cheaper than Deere. I bought 2 6x15 rims for the front of my 3020 a few weeks ago for less than $50 each at my tire shop. They were made in Canada. Tom

Around here I go to Hey Wheel in Baldwin City Ks. If they don't have what you want they can make them. I know they sell heavier rims for loader tractors. They do ship but I have no idea what that may cost. I just live a few miles from there so for me that's what I would do. I bought a rear rim for a 4430 from them a few years ago and it was heavier made and cheaper than JD.

Wheel and Rim Radcliff Iowa 515 899 2488 Very good service and all are powder coated and also do speciality rims.Wold wheel and rim also one of the best, they just did the new rims for Big Bud 747 located in
Clarion but will be leaving and end up at Williams Bros in Montana and put back to work.

I'm pretty sure Deere got some rims & wheels from French & Hecht in Davenport & Walcott, Iowa too.

I was tire, rim, & wheel buyer/scheduler at FARMALL. I had one oddball steel disk wheel for the 686 & Hydro 86 I got from Motor Wheel in Mendota, Illinois. I don't think Deere got anything from them. But half of everything I used came from EWC and half from F&H. I had 4-5 rims that ONLY EWC could make that everything I used came from EWC.

One day I'm talking with my contact at FIRESTONE in Des Moines, and she said, "Oh, I have a call from KAY at Deere." I asked her "Kay Who?. Turns out it was the girl that sat behind me in Spanish class my Junior & Senior years in high school. I was actually friends with her older brother.

Anyhow, now days TITAN is the old Electric Wheel plant in Quincy, Illinois, the large rim & wheel French & Hecht plant in Davenport is gone, all torn down, but I think Titan has their small rim/wheel plant in Walcott, Iowa, nothing bigger than a 12"x20" rim that was a French & Hecht plant.
I had two duals I bought from Titan for FARMALL, both 10 bolt duals, 16x38 and 18x38 for the 1586, 1568, 1566, 5288, & 5488. Titan back then was a heavy steel stamping company, they stamped the center discs, French & Hecht rolled the rims, and later on French & Heckt bought center discs for 9 bolt duals from Titan and took over 50% of my dual business from EWC.

Stieger Tractor in FARGO, N.D. had their own rim rolling line, think they burned heavy steel plate for all their own wheels. All Farmall sent them for the 3-4 tractor models they made for IH was dual wheel hubs, they made the wheels. FARMALL also sent the front and rear differentials. The DT-466 & DV-800 engines came from IH Melrose Park, Illinois,

Deere never made a lot of things but things are made to Deere spec and there is a big difference between a tractor rim and a white implement rim

The 747 is going back to farming again? Did we decide no till wasn’t as cool in Dryland as it is where it rains more than 6 inches a year ?

I had forgotten about French & Hecht. Any idea when they closed? We got rims from an Amish wagon shop in PA 30 years ago that often had Deere part numbers. I cannot remember what company was stamped on them but do not think it was Titan.Maybe it was still electric then? My local tire shop told me they charge $4 extra to get them in yellow instead of white. He always gets what is cheapest. Tom

You can spec rims to have heavy centers. I put 11.00-20 fronts on my 4430 for cultivating. The centers are solid 3/8+. If I remember correctly, they are titans. Bought at Nihles tire in Platteville Wi

Dont know just that it is leaving with first stop Farm Progress show but dont know if that will happen or Rantoul but same there.People from many states and even a few from foreign countries have came to Heaertland Museum to see .It is kind of like cars you could have a new mid engine Corvette and people would rather look at a RAT Rod instead. The tires and rims are all mounted and ready to be installed which is a big job.It is truly one of a kind and glad it was here for the amount of time it was.

37 years ago the Quincy Illinois plant was still Electric Wheel. The French & Hecht large rim plant was right on River Drive in downtown Davenport, right about where the old bridge from the Rock Island Arsenal entered the Iowa "mainland". I was doing some research on the Iowa side of the Quad-Cities about a month ago and found all kinds of great old pictures. The Bettendorf Brothers were very involved with French & Hecht, then split off and started a little company that became the largest railroad car manufacturing company in the whole USA in the early 1900's. Plant eventually was bought by J.I. Case, and for a short time in the early 1940's International Harvester rented part of the plant and sent parts from Farmall in Rock Island the whole 5 miles to Bettendorf to build more tractors to meet demand. But I digress.
I used to be down River Drive from the I-74 Mississippi Bridge to the west side of Davenport daily, sometimes several times a day, drove past F&H daily, but then a job change reduced it to maybe once every year or two or three. I found info that F&H management announced July 1, 1982 they were closing the Davenport plant, and by the end of '82 to move to the Walcott plant was complete, so big rim production stopped at the Davenport plant late summer '82. My last lay-off from FARMALL was 12-11-1981, easy day/date to remember! My Son was born at 7:04 AM and I should have been to work for my last day at 7 AM. I eventually made it there about 10-11 AM, complete with a box of cigars, and bubble gum cigars.
Electric Wheel went on strike in '80, I had to beat up French & Hecht REALLY bad to get what I needed to keep the wheels/rims coming in. Russ Ashe was the CEO at F&H and He and I were on a first name basis within a week for several weeks. My normal production contacts didn't like me going over their heads but the livelihood of all 3500 of US at FARMALL depended on EVERYBODY at every supplier doing their job.
Maury Taylor was the owner of Titan Proform, I met him a couple times. He bought a BIG boat, 50+ ft long, slept 8-10 people, hired a pilot to run it from Great Lakes to New Orleans, included a week long stop in Davenport and Me and my counter-part at the East Moline IH combine plant went for a late afternoon and evening boat ride, Bucket of KFC chicken, some sides, case of cold beer. Stood by the wheel and talked to the pilot most of the trip. Was offered jobs several times at French & Hecht, always said "Thanks but No Thanks". Think Moory Taylor called me once with a job offer. THAT ONE I should have said YES to. Maury has built a great company, Good-Year ag tires with the Kelly-Springfield Tire plant in Freeport, Illinois, I worked for the Thermos Company in Freeport for 2+ years from 1989 to '91. Merging Electric Wheel and F&H, added Carlisle /tires to the mix. I never got to tour any rim plant, we were chained to our desks at 7 AM and only released about 5-6 PM when we had enough parts to run till Noon the next day.
There's a LOT of great info on-line about Moory Taylor and how he built up the Monster that Is Titan. Looks like he ended up with the little Motor Wheel plant in Mendota, Illinois when he bought the Kelley-Springfield Tire Plant in Freeport.
