any help? 2 stick, round axles, no water pump, thanks

When viewing this forum in Classic view or on home page a serial # chart is shown on LH side of page. According to serial # chart your model "A" is a 1949 model.

1950. The beginning S/N for the 1950 Production Year was 640246, so your tractor is an early 1950 model. (The S/N list on this site is wrong - it shows the beginning 1950 S/N as 646530, but it's unclear where that number came from. Deere, Two-Cylinder, and Green Magazine all agree that 640246 is the first 1950 model "A"....)

Even the book put out by JD had a warning about year made verses model year. So there always was controversy. Like some car makers are soon to be selling 2021 models.
