John Deere 2150 Hi-Low question

Good Afternoon
I have a JD 4x4 2150 that has hi/low/reverse shifter. When I am running the tractor it has trouble shifting from low into reverse and back again. I grind gears a little and stop. Its like something is winding down before it goes into gear. What could be going on. Maybe adjust or replace the clutch.

Thanks for the help!

Any difference if the hydraulic Hi/Low is in one position or the other ?
If you have the serial numbers, we can figure out if it is has the optional TSS .

The old tractor has the 2x8 shifter set up with a loader. When I do any bucket work I leave it in 1st gear and work the other lever which has hi/low and reverse. I have to completely stop to change the speed 1 thur 8. The high/low and reverse just ain't as smooth as I think it should be. I bought the tractor about a year ago so still learning.

Does your tractor has CS or TSS type trans? Letter on VIN tag will reveal type of trans

iirc there is a grease fitting for the clutch throw out bearing and slide . Your operators manual shows where and how in a picture .

Thank you all so much for the help. There sure is a bunch of good folks on this forum. Wish the world had more people like you all.

Thanks Again

Thanks for the follow up! I've been looking through my Operators Manual and can't seem to find the grease cert access for the throwout bearing. I'll look in my Technician Manual after service tomorrow.

If this works, this is a pic of my 2550. Throwout bearing zert is behind the round plate on the left. Under the door to the battery. The plate just slides out of the way.

Not all 2150 models had a grease fitting on throw-out brg.

JD offered a kit(AL39931 @ $767) to add grease fittings to some models.
