3020 engine swap

I've seen posts about swapping a 4239 engine into a 3020 but no one really involved a list of parts needed. Can someone help with that?

I did a comprehensive set of posts a few years back on a 239 swap.

The short list is you need the back plate and front pump support from a 4030. Pump drive from a 4230. Depending on what your 239 came out of you may need to change the front pulley and water pump to the smaller one used on the Dubuque tractors.

To get the flywheel on to the crank youll need to have an adapter fabricated half inch thick and the flywheel modified.

Frame rails need to be modified to bolt to the new adapter plates.

What modifications have to be made to the
flywheel? Did you use the 3020 flywheel or
a different one?

I used a 3020\4020 flywheel. The bolt circle is slightly different. And the spacer has to have piloting features to keep the flywheel centered and concentric.

The only other way would be to have a custom one made or if by chance you had access to Argentine 2420 parts.

I was told that if you use a 2510 hyd pump bracket you can also use the 2510 frame rails. Never have done one but have thought about it. Tom

I have a 3130 with a fairly fresh engine
rebuild and bad transmission, will probably
just use the 6329 out of it in the 3020.

Not practical unless you have a donor 2510/2520 for parts .
And if you have a 2510/2520. It is worth repairing and forget about the 3020.

I dont understand, why do you need a 2510/2520 for parts when doing a 300 series engine swap on a 3020? I used one part from a 2510 when I did my swap, the water pump back plate. The rest from a 4030.

Mauldin,
If you use the 329, which is up to you, youll need to get longer frame rails, lengthen all the hydraulic lines and figure out a longer hood. It would basically be a dry clutch 4030 at that point.

Mauldin, where are you from, this is an European tractor fitted with 4920 weight brackets. I have same plans that you have. If you are from Europe, 4040 parts are easy to get. You need 4040 rear plate, oil pan and front pump support.

Well then he needs a donor 4030 .

I'm in the United States. These tractors
were shipped over here. The front weights
are off the 3020 I'm wanting to repower
just made them fit it.
